The Painter 05:26
I wanna write you something beautiful, like all the pictures you start. Paint a flame around your heart. Paint your picture sign your name and show me what you’re after. What would you do just to make it right? Give some. What would you give just to see it arise? Gotta give it away for the sake of us. Gotta give it away for the sake of us. You... Recognize the fear of anything that a heart can’t control. Let it out and open everything in the places we hold onto a tighter band of gold. Paint your picture sign your name and show me what you’re after. You…

Blue River 03:32
Fresh snow standing deep on the telephone wire. If you call me, speak softly. Nightmare I awaken from, grateful to find that it’s not mine, no it’s not mine. Like a fist the toad knocks on a road made of dirt cause’ he wants in, yeah he wants in. Slowly row down blue river. Lifting stones with my toes. It can’t go on like this forever. Up I won’t grow. Up I won’t grow. Crow comes from a broken home, she is so loud because no one, ever listens. Little bird taking refuge, in the toe of my shoe. Have i been gone, baby that long?

Big Light 03:42
Oh the wonder in your eyes makes everyone delighted that you came. Surely caught me by surprise that something in the world could be so brave. Your big light broke down my fences. Your big light broke down my fences. Your big light broke down my fences. Don’t you be afraid I’m here for you babe. From the moment you arrived all the lonely angels come calling. They’ve come to sing you lullabyes like hush my little baby easy don’t you cry, and close those big blue eyes. Don’t go cryin child, Don’t go cryin child, Don’t go cryin child, and don’t you be afraid I’m here for you babe. Oh the wonder in your eyes makes everyone delighted that you came. Surely caught me by surprise that something in the world could be so brave. Your big light broke down my fences. Your big light broke down my fences. Your big light broke down my fences. Don’t you be afraid I’m here for you babe.

All in good time. The longing makes diamonds for angels, who wait in that line. Send up your prayers, cause' the longer we stare in the fire, the more goes unsaid. Now we’re both turnin’ red. While we burn, burn, burn. Oh how we long to be heard, heard, her's. There’s a ghost in us both, we’re too ‘fraid to show so we hide ‘em. Well let’s drive them home. There’s a light up ahead, and no coins or cards can divine it. So let’s do what’s right, and get through tonight. While we burn, burn, burn. Oh how we long to be heard, heard, her's. Into the fi-re burn, burn, burn. Oh how we long to be heard, heard, her's. Into the fire...

When I was blind in that bellied womb it felt like trying to walk across a crowded room to be with you babe. Sun in your eyes made some of them lies worth believing any allibis. Still want you in me babe. Time’s a cure, only time will tell. I’m just waiting round by your wishing well, till’ you get with me babe. Won’t you let me drive you home. This little town finds us anywhere we go. Won’t you let me drive you home. It’s on the way, swear nobody has to know. When all, is done, and all I ever wanted was. When all, is done, and all I ever wanted was, you. Won’t you let me drive you home. This little town finds us anywhere we go. It’s on the way, swear nobody has to know. When I was blind in that bellied womb it felt like trying to walk across a crowded room to be with you babe.

Heartbreaker 04:52
Born to please like a fiery wave, may only devil's dare complain. You can bend your knees and fire away, but she's never going to stay. All in flames, she'll burn you up for hours, calls your name, and turns you up inside. Your remains, she buries in the garden. All the same, she never told a lie. Uh-oh, Uh-oh. With a smile on her faces. Uh-oh, Uh-oh. We all know those places. Uh-oh, you better know, someplace to hide. Where she'll never go, Where she'll never go, but please let her know. You're make-believin' she needs a man, but she don't give a good God damn, Cause' the only angel walking in hell, would remember why they fell. Just lay down she says, and rest your head. Come lay down she says, and I'll make everything right.

The Wait 04:27
Oh the wait, on your own, in a state, of all-pervading/alternating hopes, on the edge, of an all-consuming light. Live in this world but don’t let it get you too long. Live in this world but don’t hold to anything long. Oh the wait is long. Standing on your own the feeling’s strong. Everybody knows there’s something wrong. But why, is all we wanna know. Thinking away the now! Thinking away the now! Thus the soul bears a weight in this world.

Down in the shade of our old man’s well, you made me promise to never tell, on you. In your shivering ribs, on your brown bony knees, you drown in a gallon of familiar mead, to soothe. When the bottle was empty and black as a vine, father did prey for the second time, on you. You’re alright now. Brother, brother must you be so hard on yourself. Lay your levy down and let him atone. Mother, mother laying out her hand me down dress. Father won’t hang on too long. Carry him home. Winter will come for the old man soon. Pray for our souls. And clean the bottles and cans from your old man’s room. There’s a name above our beds, for when we get scared. There’s no shame in what it says, but now he's far too gone. Still remember what he said, and made you wait there. Something underneath it all prays it isn’t happening at all. This isn’t happening at all. Carry him home. Winter will come for the old man soon. Pray for our souls. And clean the bottles and cans from your old man’s room.

Beside her you sleep through the morning your head on the ground. She says that she dreamt she was falling through fire and clouds. Where do you go? Her attention is fixed on the starling skimming the ground. With her featherless wings she lifts up when no one’s around. Where do you go?

There’s no guarantee so hold on to someone you believe. And no words are gonna work it out. And we know the ways, that it goes, so be proud. There’s some higher mean that keeps these things happening in three’s. But the worst of it’s over now. So don’t take it hard, look at all that you’ve found. It won’t be long now. Hands can’t stop holding and waving goodbye. It won’t be long now. So just let him hold you and don’t close your eyes. You...

about

"Simultaneously blending echoes of Iron and Wine, Ryan Adams, and Jeff Buckley, Ramaya Soskin's album somehow engages both a daring spirit and a tender vulnerability. Wrapping up gentle folk in lush pop harmonies, cradling thoughtful songwriting with both hushed and assertive vocals that are strung through these songs like a golden thread, the songs on All In Good Time capture a unique pocket of inspired and sincere writing, with volumes of courage and determination. Somewhere between the rush of falling in love and the beautiful bitterness of having your heart broken, you’ll find emotions so delicious that you can’t quite let them go; such is the magic of All In Good Time". -Review by Tamara Turner, Music Editor for CD Baby (Editor's Pick)
